Workshops and Trainings

We offer a wide range of innovative anti-oppression/conflict transformation workshops and programs for schools, community organizations and all variety of workplaces. 

Our unique curriculum has been developed through a partnership with a group of experienced anti-oppression trainers and theatre professionals from various communities and sectors in Toronto. We offer a variety of theatre arts based workshops and trainings designed to assist in creating safer spaces in our schools, communities and workplaces. 

All of our programs include theatre games, facilitated dialogue and other arts based approaches to each topic. Workshops can range from between one hour to a full day session, depending on your needs.

We also offer a full forensic transformative assessment of your organization which is a year long process and includes working with your Board of Directors and all levels of staff and management.

What We Offer

Conflict Transformation

Conflict Transformation Conflict Transformation is based on the understanding that conflict is inevitable and an opportunity for meaningful change. Utilizing the three “Cs” i.e. courage, creativity and compassion - this workshop takes a practical and creative approach to not only resolving but also transforming conflict between co-workers, students, and peers.  

General Anti-Oppression

An exploration of systems of oppression, and how to stop perpetuating the mechanisms of those systems in classrooms, workplaces and other spaces.

Re-thinking Anti-Oppression 

Anti-oppression awareness and sensitivity is an ongoing process. CPT offers wholistic and deeply impactful program that involves a forensic examination of your school, workplace or community space, training with Boards, staff at all levels and a consultation process for the improvement of policies to create a safer, non-oppressive environment.

Indigenous Awareness and Sensitivity

Going beyond stereotypes and common misinformation about the over 600 different Indigenous communities across North America. Includes a brief history, socio-political structures and contributions, cultural maps and colonial impacts.

Indigenous Pre-Colonial History
A more comprehensive look at Indigenous history prior to the arrival of Europeans in Canada, with a focus on the region of the Great Lakes surrounding area. Includes a more in depth look at Indigenous inter-Tribal Treaties and wampums.

Indigenous-Canadian Treaty History
​A comprehensive look at Indigenous-Canadian settler relations and political agreements.

Indigenous –Canadian relations today
A comprehensive look at contemporary Indigenous issues and the relationship between Canada as a colonial settler state and Indigenous communities.

Anti-Racism
An exploration of the ways racism operates through various systems of oppression – this program offers insights for recognizing and confronting racism, whether it is internalized within ourselves, our workplace or classroom, as well as in pop-culture.

Complex Multi-Culturalism

A follow up to anti-oppression and anti-racism awareness, this program delves deeply into the complexities of multi-culturalism, and how we can better approach diversity beyond tokenism and inclusion.

LGBTQ Awareness and Sensitivity

Deconstruction of hetero-normative systems, gender binaries and a history of important LGBTQ people and movements.

Follow up to LGBTQ Awareness and Sensitivity

Trans Awareness and Sensitivity

A closer look at gender fluidity, challenging binaries and how to better create safer spaces for trans and gender fluid, gender non-conforming community.

Understanding Privilege
Privilege is a loaded word for many people. This workshop explores the multitude of intersecting and diverging privileges and the way to recognize them, and leverage them to create less oppressive spaces.

Mixed Identities
This is specific to groups with culturally diverse and mixed backgrounds working within a culture-based organization or community. It explores the complexities of mixed race identity, privileges and challenges myths and stereotypes perpetuated in pop-culture.
