About Peace Camp

For three weeks in July, 65 children, youth, and professional artists will gather at our beautiful home in Taylor Creek Park to work and play together to explore issues of peace and conflict.

Through the process of collaborative theatre, music and art, participants discover new things about themselves, the world.   By engaging fully with others in a unique atmosphere of trust and creativity, hard work and fun play, they learn to face their conflicts with courage, compassion and creativity and experience the meaning of community. 

Peace Camp culminates in 3 theatrical performances (including a gala Saturday night show) based on the explorations of the themes and the children’s visions of Peace. 

In 2005, Mayor David Miller awarded The Children’s Peace Theatre with special recognition for our Summer Peace Camp.

Ages:

Peace Camp has 45 spaces for 8-13 year olds to register as campers. Campers are registered on a first come basis.

The camp is also comprised of youth guides from the ages 14-24 and artists of all ages. We also welcome elders who wish to participate in the camp as volunteers.

 Dates and Times:

Peace Camp 2008 will run from Monday July 7 – Saturday July 26th, from 9:00am – 3:30pm  For the convenience of working moms and dads extended care will be offered for an extra $10/day for after-camp care until 5pm, and an extra $5/day for pre-camp care beginning at 8:30am.

Campers must be available for all matinee performances in the last week of camp as well as for the Gala Celebration on Saturday July 26 and for Sunday July 27nd in the event of a rain date.

Camp Fees:

Camper Fee: $395 for three weeks
Family Rate: $395 for one child, $300 for each additional child
A deposit of $175.00 will be required to hold your space.
There are a limited number of bursaries available to assist families with the cost of Peace Camp. Please contact the CPT office if you require information about applying for a bursary.
